The Gaasterlander Kruidenvarken originates in Gaasterland, in the hilly south-west of Friesland. At the Hemelumer Hoeve, a pig farm in the village of Hemelum, a unique breeding programme lays the foundation for this herb-fed pig. The farm’s own breeding programme, feed with a balanced herb mix and the way the piglets are raised guarantee the quality and flavour of the pork.
