HANOS fruit and vegetable buyers deal directly with growers. That way, we know for sure that our products meet strict quality requirements. More and more growers are working increasingly sustainably and growing in a fair way. That includes Klootwijk AGF, a business that has been growing a variety of vegetables, herbs, cabbages and edible flowers for more than 38 years.
Janneke and Cees come from a true family of growers. Grower Janneke Klootwijk was brought up with vegetable growing and trading. Together with her brother Cees, she is the face of Klootwijk AGF. They started their own growing business in Ridderkerk in the late 1970s. After the Klootwijk family lost their greenhouse in Ridderkerk through expropriation, Janneke and Cees decided to look for a new location. They eventually found it in Raamsdonk. Since 2006, Klootwijk has specialised in ‘forgotten’ vegetables and herbs.
They largely produce their own seed and grow it into a beautiful, flavourful end product. Growing without outside intervention results in honest, sustainable and local produce. Klootwijk AGF believes plants should follow their own rhythm, without grow lights, rock wool or hydroponics. This gives every product its own valuable, unique flavour and quality. The range is more limited in the winter months, because the growers follow the seasons.
Klootwijk AGF is GLOBALG.A.P. certified. It is also part of the NAK AGRO Residue Monitoring Programme. This means that several unannounced samples are taken every year to check against the permitted MRLs (maximum residue limits), so that the quality and safety of the product remain guaranteed. They only grow and harvest to order.
